A Glimpse of Me

My Web Design Journey

My web design journey began back in elementary school. My art teacher let us play on Adobe Dreamweaver for several weeks, just to let us experiment with it. Mind you, this was the very beginning of the 21st century, so it was a lot of adding as many features as I could Google. It was a mess, but I loved it!

I was able to get a bit more experience in high school with Web Technologies; unfortunately, I had to choose between Web Tech and French in my final year. After 11 years of French Immersion, I felt I had to complete my French education. I earned my Bilingual Certificate, but I think I lost my roll in design.

I attended the University of Ontario Institute of Technology for a couple of years in pursuit of a Bachelor of Arts in Communication. During my time there, I figured out it was not the right path for me. I did have one teacher that inspired me to go back to what I was passionate about before, Web Design.

This led me back to school - this time at Durham College. I began in the Interactive Media Design program. After the first year, I fell in love with Javascript. I love how you can use code to integrate visuals and functionality to create a successful product.

Personal Interests

My two biggest interest in life are books and music. You rarely find me without headphones or with music blaring, and when I have to be in a situation where I cannot have music you can rest assured that I have a song going in the background of my mind. By extension of my passion for music, one of my favourite things to do is going to concerts. I have even started to keep a simple Wordpress blog to try to keep track of the concerts I go to.

I have been an avid reader since I was a little kid. I do not remember ever not being able to read, and ever since I learned how to I have read constantly. My mom would always scold me for having to take multiple books on any outing. My favourite book ever is "Little Brother" by Cory Doctorow, a near-future version of "1984" where he makes a comparison to lack of privacy in technology to the totalitarian government of George Orwell's book.
